Interested in understanding how emerging viruses jump species?

Research projects in the lab evaluate how influenza viruses interface with their diverse host environments. Influenza virus will continually re-emerge and cause severe consequences to public health and domestic animals. Our interests lie in finding which host genes contribute to influenza virus replication, whether they’re post-transcriptionally regulated in a species or stimulation-specific manner, and the evolutionary trajectories the virus takes to mitigate these pressures.
